    Does this sound like a business that you would like to buy from? It is obvious that this eBay seller has had at least one bad experience with a buyer. They seem to have let bad business experiences dictate the terms that they set for other potential customers. They have lost focus of good business sense and gone into a defensive mode. This posturing in their business practices will not help them persuade customers to buy. The potential customers will become scared about doing business with this business and will look for other options.

    The above example and the lessons from that can be used in the rational of accepting credit cards as well. The most used payment method today is credit card. Smart business will accommodate their customers by accepting them. There are a few bad points for a business in accepting credit cards, but the benefits far exceed any of the effects of those. When a business owner chooses not to accept credit cards, they may very well be committing business suicide.

    One aspect of accepting credit cards that business owners may easily overlook is accepting credit cards over the phone. This is another time in which business owners need to be smart about how they run their business in a tight economy. No business owner can afford to lose sales due to not being able to process credit cards over the phone.

    The ability to accept credit cards over the phone is a must for businesses that are mail order, telephone order, or even places that do delivery. It is fairly simple to do for these businesses because they usually have credit card machines that they can just punch the info into.

    For home based businesses and brick and mortar businesses, that do not have a credit card terminal, the process is only slightly more difficult. The process for them will involve getting an online terminal set up through their merchant provider and then they?re off. It is as that easy for them to get started, leaving no business with a valid excuse for not accepting credit cards over the phone.

    It is certainly possible for many people to work at home thanks to broadband Internet and the computer. But before you cancel your existing office space and move your work material to your home, you should carefully consider both the advantages and disadvantages of working at home.

    First let’s look at the advantages of shifting your workplace to your own home.

    1. Flexibility is the first big advantage of working at home. When you are at home you can work nicely, but also be available in case of any family emergencies or non-work related needs. If you are raising kids or taking care of pets or a garden, then being at home means that you can, take a few minutes off to do things that you would never be able to do if you were miles away in an office.

    2. The next great advantage to working at home is that you will save hours of commuting time. It is not uncommon for workers to spend several hours a day sitting in their cars or riding on public transportation. By working at home, you can turn this largely wasted time into something that is either more productive or more enjoyable. In addition, it’s better for the environment when you avoid commuting to work.

    3. Working at home can save you a lot of money. How much you save depends on your work situation. If you are self-employed then you can save big-time on costs of renting an office and paying the office utility bills. And even if you work for someone else you will save money by not having to commute, so working from your home should be a money saving activity for almost anyone.

    However, working at home has its downside so let’s look at this aspect too.

    1. It is good to be flexible with your time, but flexibility can also make you more vulnerable to distractions. If you leave your work for every little household issue, then you may not get all of your work done, or you may not do your work well. It all depends on you, and your level of self-discipline and it also depends on the people with whom your share your home. If they respect your work space and your work needs then distractions need not be detrimental to your work.

    2. Some people are less efficient when working at home. Maybe it is just a question of atmosphere or some intangible factors. When you go to an office or other work area, you know you have to work and you do it. However, when you are at home you may not put your nose to the grindstone and really work. Once again, a lot depends on you and how you work in different environments.

    3. If you have workaholic tendencies then working at home may not be for you. When your office is at home it is easy to spend endless hours at your desk. Those who are on fixed schedules at a workplace can usually just go home and forget about work until tomorrow while those who are the masters of their own time often work harder and longer. Think about this before you make up your mind.

    I enjoy working at home, but am aware of both the advantages and disadvantages of this arrangement, and you should also think about these factors too before committing yourself to working at home.

When you use free classified ads to help sell your belongings, you’ll always come out ahead of the game.

    It’s not often that you get something for nothing but in this case, you will. If you’re trying to earn a little extra income by selling some of your worldly goods, you don’t want to have to pay to sell them. If you use one of the numerous free classified boards, you will be ahead of the curve and every penny you make, you can keep.

    Sure there are plenty of boards online that you have to pay for advertising. You can try to sell your stuff on an auction site but you don’t know what price you’ll end up getting and you could end up having to pay the auction site a hefty portion of the proceeds from your sale. Don’t let this happen to you. You’re selling your stuff; you should get to keep the money you’re getting paid for it.

    Ok, so you know what you want to sell. How much should you ask for it? You don’t want to undercut yourself but you also don’t want to list items at too high of a price or you know they’ll sit there, forever. Search the ads that are already posted and find out how much similar items are selling for. Use this as your guide and get a good price posted with your ads.

    Be thoughtful with your classified posting. You don’t want to be too witty or cute or appear to be a spammer. No one will want your goods; they probably won’t even read beyond the byline if you aren’t careful. Give clear, thorough descriptions without being too wordy. Make sure people have a means to contact you if they have questions or are ready to purchase your items.

    You can make a decent earning, selling your gently used goods online. Don’t give up part of your profits to sites that require you to pay for your listings. Use free classified ads to find a buyer and reap the rewards of smart advertising.
